Why are School uniforms so important? Here are a few reasons why.

It's a fashion trend that's spreading. From Los Angeles to Louisiana, from Maryland to Miami, public schools are 

 discussing, and in many cases adopting, the old private school idea. School uniforms are designed to help kids focus on algebra instead of high-tops; to make students compete for grades rather than jackets.  Uniforms are most common in elementary, middle and junior high schools, according to the Federal Department of Education.

School uniforms also take the pressure off students to pay top dollar for clothes. A school uniform apparently also saves students from putting their fashion tastes before their learning requirements.  Wearing the same type of dress reduces social snobbery and peer pressure in educational institutions.

 A school uniform can instill a sense of discipline and community feeling. This naturally reduces incidents of violence.  A school uniform makes it easier for the school authorities to recognize students belonging to their school.  And saves the school administrators from having to police what the students wear.
